"Peace and Calm"

The day is ending here.  It has been a day of peace and calm.  We walked around the neighborhood to get a  sense of the climate this afternoon. There were few cars moving about...  The stores were lacking in fresh produce, but otherwise they seemed to have goods on the shelves.   The mood of the people was somber. The government is asking the people to be on the streets in pro government demonstrations. Since this is a weekend, we think that will also happen tomorrow and we don't want our young volunteers to be out and about.  By Monday we believe everything will return to normal, people will go about their lives. We are planning to have the volunteers do their normal preparation activities.  I hope you are not extremely worried.  I have spoken with all of the volunteers at least twice today and they are in good spirits, they are really doing well and are anxious to be out of their apartments ASAP.  We prefer to err on the side of caution.  The work of the Lord will go forward.  We love the people of Turkey. We pray for them as they go forward with their lives.
Volunteer Muncy is alive and well and loving Istanbul!
