Week 20

Kurtulus gunu mutlu olsun!

(Happy Independence Day!)

Happy Independence Day!  Today all of us Istanbul volunteers are going bowling and getting Carls Jr. because it's the only restaurant that gives free refills on fountain drinks.  Last week's preparation day was so sweet--we went to a beach (not ON it, don't worry, we're obedient).of the Black Sea!  It was so awesome there!  We lost our way a little bit getting there, but it ended up being worth it!  This time next week you'll be hearing if I am staying in Levent or transferring somewhere else.  It is crazy how fast time is going--I feel like I was delivering pizzas yesterday!  Three new volunteers are coming on the 13th and transfers will happen the day before.  Unfortunately almost all of our friends have all of a sudden stopped talking to us.  Ramazan ends tonight.  So because of that, everyone is on vacation and the streets of Istanbul are empty; it's so weird!  We are still meeting a lot of people though, and the Lord is definitely helping us out.  The things that are going on around here make be feel so blessed to be here!  I know that a lot of people are concerned, but I love EVERYTHING about being here!  My cooking skills are improving a little bit, but we don't have much time to eat at home.  Since the food is cheap here we eat out a lot, but I AM progressing.
